Mersin is the most important logistics center of not only Turkey but also the Middle East and the Eastern Mediterranean region with its geographical location and wide hinterland. Mersin is located at an important passageway connecting the Middle Eastern and European Countries through both seaborne and land transport.
Mersin’s advantageous geographical location presents an invaluable gift of transport infrastructure enabling efficient connections with the neighborhood, particularly Central, Eastern and Southeastern Anatolian Regions, which are all included within the hinterland of Port of Mersin. This geographical gift of transportation infrastructure also enables Mersin to reach all the other parts of Turkey.
In terms of land transport facilities, Mersin’s transport networks cover all industrial and trade centers in Turkey. There are presently exist railway connections with Central Anatolian region thorough Yenice Station and with Syria and Iraq as well as the Southeastern cities through Adana. Also the airway transport facilities are for the time being, provided through Adana Airport, which is 65km distant from Mersin. There is also implementing Çukurova Airport Project which is planned to be located in Mersin province border.
